refugio, with 1st team in, scored on a 17 yard pass with 2 seconds left in the game to pull out a close game

score before the decisive td 49-25

It is funny when C.C. Calallen , a 4A powerhouse, has openly challenged Refugio to a non-district football match-up next year.

People have accused Refugio of running up the score all season. The coach of Refugio has explained that there are so many bad teams in their district, so they have to keep there starters in untill they played 3 qtrs regardless. This is so the kids can keep in playing shape when they face a good team in the playoffs. This has result in scores of 91-6 & so on. This has drawn a lot of talk on all state boards. Some coaches say you don't run up the score period. I guess Corpus Christi Calallen challenged Refugio to a non-district match-up next couple of years. Probably to return the favor.

Last week in the Area round Refugio was beating Three Rivers by a score of 49-25 with 8 seconds left. Refugio coach calls a timeout. Then throws the ball for a TD to win 56-25 with starters in. That is when everything really hit the fan. Even the people of Refugio are deeply divided on this. This has been a huge topic on the 2A board that has keeped 2A Mods busy.

Ya, not very classy to run up scores, I dont really care what the excuse is.
