Of course my vote will have to go towards senior RB Nathan Childers from Crosbyton. Aside from rushing for 2,117 yards and 32 TDs in the regular season he also made 71 tackles at Linebacker to help the Crosbyton Chieftains finish 12-1 (The best record in their school's history).

You know mines with Chad Nuebauer. Mr. Iron Man! His impact on both sides of the ball undoubtedly made Shiner a contender once again this year!

Lol, yes he was. So let me rephrase that. His impact on every aspect of the game, offense, defense and special teams! Mr. Iron Man indeed! He never left the field.

No surprise I gotta go with Kyle zavala 2a always puts out some pretty good talent with skill guys some mpressive ones and all but it's not often to see one dominate the line of scrimmage like he did this year

In fairness should be a offensive player of year and separate for defensive player, if you see a defensive players name on this above list that's speaks well enough of the caliber of player he is.

Surprised no Mart players on list or maybe so I just don't see the names of the ones I thought would be on here. I see where one listed had 9 rush attempts against Mason for 10 yds.

I think D'nerian Thomas from Mart needs to be there possibly Cosby and Nail as well. Galla from Canadian should be there too. Also Hudson and Castillo from Mason. One of the best lineman was Kalina from Shiner who should at least be listed.

It is all of the Player of the Weeks. There were a couple of weeks where there was only 1 or 2 nominations. Thats why I was trying to drum up more nominations all year.

All of these boys should be proud of even being nominated for Player of the Year. In small town football, these boys are overall great athletes not only in football but in basketball, baseball, track. It's what makes 1A/2A football so exciting. I wish all of these boys the best of luck in the future whether it be at the next level or back here for another year of high school ball.

Sure getting a lot of new Puncher fans from Mason joining up right now. Maybe they would like to donate to help keep the site running so their choice of Player of the year can be elected. :-bd

Yea, when I saw this was a posters choice. Not to burst anyone's bubble, but peeps could easily start signing up for accounts just to cast a vote. Then never make a post! Might be best if the moderators vote for player of the year like they did for players of the week. Plus everyone is going to be biased.

Well it is open to all of the POTW communities and if 10% of the new posters stick around and become regulars then it has been a great membership drive also. Anyone can spread the word in their community to join up and vote. Remember it is just 33% of final POTY vote.

Their vote only counts for 1/3 of the overall selection.
The mods/admins vote counts for 1/3 of the overall selection.
The boss gets the final 1/3 count.

BTW, nobody nominated any players from Mart this year, so that is why none of them are on the ballot.

Chandler King - Windthorst QB/SS/P- Senior

All of the nominees listed are very good players and deserving of the POTY award. I wanted to introduce you to our Windthorst QB - Chandler King. Most importantly, this young man is very humble guy and alway willing to help you out. At school, he is ranked #1 academically in his class and is the Student Body President, National Honor Society President, Class President and a member of the Church Youth Leadership team. In this second season of the new "Air Trojan offense" he threw for 3,275 yards 34 TDs and rushed for over 400 yards and 8 TDs. That yardage puts him in the top 15 all-time for class 2A. He led Windthorst to the Area Playoff round vs Canadian, where he threw for 278 yards and 2 TDs. He plans to major in Engineering in college. Although Windthorst will surely miss him next season, we are all excited for what the future holds for this young man.
