Abernathy 54, Tulia 7
TULIA — Abernathy exploded for 35 unanswered points in the first half en route to a 54-7 thrashing of Tulia in a Class 2A contest on Friday night.
Kole Carlisle rushed for 138 yards in the game, including a 20-yard touchdown run in the first quarter for the Antelopes. A 1-yard fumble return by Ian Ponce and a 2-yard touchdown run by Bryson Daily pushed the score to 21-0 in the opening period.
Daily also connected with Joseph Sanchez for a 75-yard touchdown toss in the second quarter.
Adrian Macias added touchdown runs of 15 and 6 yards for the Antelopes (2-0).
SEAGRAVES — Joseph Guerrero hauled in a pass from Davin Rodriguez in the fourth quarter, pushing Seagraves past Floydada, 10-7, in a Class 2A contest.
Floydada (0-2) held a 7-3 advantage entering the fourth quarter, before Rodriguez connected with Guerrero on an 11-yard touchdown toss with 7:31 left to play in the game.
The Whirlwinds grabbed the early lead with a 9-yard touchdown pass from Andrew Vega to Angel Cervera at the 7:26 mark in the first quarter.
Seagraves (2-0) trimmed the deficit to 7-3 with 50 seconds remaining in the first half on a 31-yard field goal by Anthony Conde.
New Deal 54, Lamesa 13
NEW DEAL — Jett Whitfield rushed for 176 yards and a touchdown and passed for 138 yards and three touchdowns as New Deal crushed Lamesa, scoring 54 points for the second week in a row.
Whitfield opened the scoring with a 59-yard run. His TD passes went for 15 yards to Nehemiah Martinez and 9 and 48 yards to Dylan Jerden. Martinez carried 13 times for 76 yards, including TDs from 49 and 2 yards.
Jace Burleson carried 18 times for 97 yards and two touchdowns for Lamesa (1-1), and Jackson Napper completed 13 of 27 passes for 139 yards.
Hale Center 41,
DIMMITT — Ayden Rogers and Jesse Hinojosa combined for five touchdowns, lifting Hale Center over Dimmitt in a Class 2A contest.
Hinojosa scored on a 7-yard run at the 10:06 mark in the first quarter and a 50-yard run in the second quarter for the Owls (2-0).
Rogers found the end zone after hauling in a 43-yard pass from Brandon Castillo with 8:12 remaining in the first quarter, then teamed with Castillo on a 50-yard scoring toss with 9:51 remaining in the third quarter.
Olton 29, Ralls 14
RALLS — Nate Gunter bolted 80 and 60 yards for touchdowns and Jack Allcorn had a TD apiece rushing and passing, leading Olton past Ralls.
Olton (2-0) piled up 442 yards, including 329 on the ground. Gunter finished with 227 on 16 carries. Allcorn had 189 yards total offense, including a TD pass to Nate Zamora, who finished with five catches for 60 yards.
Ralls (0-2) got 56 yards and two touchdowns from Jerry Flores, who carried 18 times.
Sundown 69, Morton 0
MORTON — Christian Huey had a hand in four first-quarter touchdowns and Sundown ran away from Morton.
Huey scored on runs of 25 and 31 yards in the game’s first five minutes, then threw TD passes of 24 yards each ot Zach Smith and Steven Quintanilla for a 28-0 lead.
The Roughnecks (2-0) made it 49-0 by halftime on TD runs by Abraham Bocanegra and Smith, sandwiched around an interception-return touchdown from Isaac Hernandez.
Smith and Huey each completed 5 of 7 passes, Smith for 94 yards and Huey for 89. Huey led Roughnecks rushers with 71 yards, and Smith was next with 69.
