1A Powerlifting

Postby TigerPride » Mon Jan 27, 2014 7:57 am

Who are the better 1A schools at this sport? We have a few kids, boys and girls, who I believe can have some pretty good success this year. Not sure how I felt about this sport at first but now I'm hooked. Go Tigers

Powerlifting is the only non-UIL sport in Texas. There is only 3 divisions, 5A/4A, 3A, and 2A/1A. There is also 6 regions. Caddo Mills a 2A school holds a lot of division 3 records, esp for the SHWs. Cumby has won the division 3 women's state title the last 2 years.

I have it bookmarked and go to it at least once a week during lifting season (jan-early mar). There is also a girls site www.thswpa.com for female lifters.
Gone from the the state but still keeping tabs on the place I covered for over a quaerter-century.

Several years ago we had an athlete in Goldthwaite that could bench press over 500 lbs, and.....he got 5th in the State finals in the 100 meters.

We have had a great year in just about every sport and was competitive in just about everything we did this year. We really have had a great group of kids. I want to shout out to the Hawley Girls Powerlifting team. Congratulations on winning State again. Love those Bearcats. Hawley Rocks!!!

Two Hawley Girls Win Gold at State in Powerlifting...

Carlee Pitcher wins State in Powerlifting Dead Lift at 365 !!! Total pounds 920 lbs. (Gold Medal)

Courtney Dillard wins State in Powerlifting Dead Lift at 330 !!! Total pounds 830 lbs. (Gold Medal)

The Hawley Lady Bearcats Girls Powerlifting Team took the Silver Medal in 2A at State. Note, on a sad note the third Hawley standout did not get to make the trip as she was ill and had been very sick for almost a week prior to this meet. Sure would have been nice to have had her contribution to have come closer to Gold...

Awesome Job Girls.... Hawey Rocks !!! :-bd ^:)^ :ymapplause: \:D/
