For Region 1 I would will go with AC, if they will let the slappers do their thing and not swing away. Good pitcher, solid D
Region 2- Crawford; at state last year and playing well
Region 3- Joaquin/Grapeland?
Region 4- Shiner or Milano

AC did it last year beating Petrolia in the playoffs after losing to them in regular season. Petrolia probably feels some sting from that. AC and Petrolia would face each other in the Region Finals if they both make it that far.

Region 1- Petrolia and AC
Region 2- Crawfords to lose
Region 3- Too close to call.. Top bracket Martin Mill or Woden Bottom Bracket will be Avery and Grapeland or Joaquin
Region 4- Shiner would be my favorite but Milano, Evadale and Normangee have good young pitchers that have led them so far. Could make it interesting early on.

In reg 4 it will be between Shiner and Weimar. Both have great pitching and hitting. Shiner has more than one pitcher that can get the job done.

Region 1 coaches do not appear to understand how to use their slappers. Kind of sad. Small ball may become a lost art form.

An interesting note on Region 2 team, Crawford, is whether the coaching staff has fixed the illegal pitching issue with their staff. At state last year, both pitchers used in their game with Windthorst were called for several illegal pitches resulting in quite a few unearned runs. I do not know about Region 2 umpires but the state umpires were on top of calling illegal pitches all tournament.

Preach it. 2nd game against ptown was survival they owned early innings and ac later innings. Ac had bases loaded w 2 outs and couldn't get tying run across. Congrats to ptown they deserved district title. IMO Ac has to start hitting earlier taking us too long to get on track. We had no less that 7 errors against ptown and 5 unearned. However ptown did hit the ball and made us make plays and it was horrible weather for both teams as they started having issues in later innings. 2 really good teams they got the best of first 2 by a combined 2 runs. I agree w you on slappers 110%

If you don't send in any results or info you won't get posted in polls. They want to fly under the radar and be there at the end is the thinking of some teams.

Here's another thought for him too - some districts are stronger than others. He should know by now which districts are around 3 and 4 rounds deep every year. Just because you are the 2nd or even a 3rd place team in those districts doesn't mean you should not be ranked or even dropped out of the Top 10 in AC or Weimar's case. Use a little common sense!!!

Yeah what he said. I mean shiners district has won6 of 7 of the last state championships. So odds are it's pretty dang stout and AC, windthorst or petrolia have knocked it each other out. Either 3rd or 4th rnd last 3-4 yrs.

Some good ones as we move into the 3rd round....Crawford has played only 1 game in 2 weeks because of bye first round.
In Region 4 some good ones...Weimar vs Thorndale ( 3games)
Shiner vs Milano (1 game)
Whoever survives the Shiner/Milano game will win Region 4
Region 1 Windy/AC; Petrolia/Haskell....still going with Petrolia to win that region.

Ac wins game 2

Takes series 2/0

Great Job to both Archer County teams. Softball is alive and well in Archer County. 2 hard fought games.

I I would like to tip my hat to a few Winthorst Srs as well. Brooklyn King, Emily Hise, brooke Schreiber and Emily Schroeder. If I lft any Srs out I'm sorry these are just the ones I know of and their classification Y'all have nothing to hang your heads about. Y'all always battled, won so many games for your school, and always w class. Y'all epitomize High school sports and what it's all about. Plus you have a nice medal from last yes finals appearance. Good luck and God bless to what your future holds

You are a class act my friend and we appreciate you for recognizing our girls. They worked hard, played hard and gave it their best till the end. Both groups (Archer City and Windthorst) have faced off, in several sports since they were 8 years old. They are friends and have often been combined and played tournaments together as one team. Some have even had sleepovers (at my house as well as others) and have been to each other's birthday parties. Special group of young ladies from Archer County who I hope will value their friendships into their adult years.

Good luck in life girls and good luck to the Ladycats on their way to state.

SINTON - Shiner's Bethany Nevlud hasn't lost a game in the circle all year for the Lady Comanches.

The junior right-handed pitcher had to battle the wind blowing in from center during Game 1 of their Class 2A regional semifinal series against Riviera Kaufer on Thursday at the Lady Pirates Field.

Nevlud (14-0-1) extended her winning streak, giving up to two hits and no earned runs while striking out six in six innings of work as the No. 1 Lady Comanches defeated the Lady Hawks 11-1.

"The wind is definitely a disadvantage when you're pitching," Nevlud said. "It's hard to focus, and I just hit my spots to help the team out."

Both teams travel to Beeville for Game 2 on Saturday. Game 3, if necessary, will follow Game 2.

"That win was blowing in hard from center and our whole team had to adjust," said Shiner coach Steven Cerny. "I thought that we stayed focus and got some key hits when we needed to."

Nevlud remained confident all game long.

"You have to stay humble and focused when you're pitching," Nevlud said. "You can't worry about the past, and you just have to focus on game at a time."

Shiner (22-2-2) scored in every inning except the first.

The Lady Comanches also were aggressive on the bath paths, stealing 14 bases.

"I think we stepped up when we needed to," Nevlud said. "We got clutch hits, and we made defensive plays when we needed to."

The Lady Hawks (24-1) had five errors in the game and the Lady Comanches made them pay for it.

Shiner took a 4-0 lead after Taylor Wenske, who went 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs, hit an RBI single.

The Lady Hawks' lone run came on an error in the bottom of the fourth.

With the bases loaded in the top of the fifth, Shiner third baseman Lauren Haas hit an RBI double to give the Lady Comanches a 6-1 advantage.

Nevlud, who went 2-for-5 with two RBIs, added an insurance run in the top of the seventh with an RBI triple.

The Lady Comanches will have a light practice Friday to prepare for Game 2 on Saturday.

"They have a great team over there with great arms and great defensive players," Cerny said. "It was very important to win Game 1, but it all starts over on Saturday."
