History is in the favor of Shiner! Amazing that the team that started the run for small town Central Texas can make it 5 straight for district 28 1A-2A in the 5 years. Wow! Some good softball in the area!

You're right, this area is very, very strong in both baseball and softball. Hallettsville, our neighboring community, is playing as we speak. We are young and hopefully will be in Austin a few more times in the future. Go get 'em girls!

Not to put the hex on Harleton with this but they have outscored opponents 343-34 in 35 games this year. They are giving less than a run a game, that is pretty impressive. They haven't scored less than 8 runs in the playoffs.

Harleton and Shiner share a common opponent - Rosenberg Lamar Consolidated - Shiner won 7-0 and Harleton won 2-1.

Wow, the East Bernard pitcher put on quite a show yesterday, striking out 18! Hallettsville and EB will have the battle of 90A later, kinda crazy how they are in different regions, but I guess the line has to be drawn somewhere.

I'm going with Harleton and their Soph pitcher. I watched her throw a perfect game in the semis last year as a freshman. Pretty salty!

Shiner 2-0 after 5 1/2 as Bethany Nevlud goes yard. She has scored both of Shiner's runs and has two of their three hits.

Harleton gets a pair of walks with two outs but can't come up with the two out hit 2-0 Shiner heading to the 7th.

Harleton was a good team but with all those impressive stats vs. a team that comes from a tough district and then play through 2 district opponents in the playoffs, plus many tough non district teams from 6A down. Shiner played solid D today and timely hitting and capture their 5th title overall in 10 trips to state. Congrats to both Harleton and Shiner on a great championship game with awesome crowds and atmosphere!

Congrats to the Lady Comanches! On a side note, Coach Cerny now has a State Championship in football, baseball, and softball, just curious if that feat has ever been accomplished in Texas? Windthorstfan check it out, lol.

Don't think it has as a head coach of those three sports. Don't think it has in just softball and baseball...someone check on that for us.

Good game and congrats to Shiner on their state championship. I feel playing in what was probably the toughest district in the state definitely prepared them for their successful playoff run.

I believe they also played very tough non district opponents and in tournaments competing vs. 4A-6A schools.

Shiner's schedule consisted of 3 6A, 3 5A, 2 4A, 7 3A, and 3 TAPPS 5A.
Harleton's schedule consisted of 3 5A, 6 4A, 1 3A, 1 2A and 5 Arkansas schools (alignment if in Texas) 2 4A, 2 3A, and 1 2A
Bosqueville schedule consisted of 4 4A, 3 3A, 2 2A and a TAPPS 4A
Hawley's schedule consisted of 1 5A, 3 4A, 1 3A and 2 2A and a a TAPPS 3A

Obviously did not include district play and playoffs.

Read article and listen to interview with Harleton softball coach, who basically said how bad they played and so on, with no credit to Shiner or Bosqueville at state tournament. They are a good squad, but you have to give credit to the opponent at some time regardless of win or lose.
