It was 18-4 heading to the B5. Visiting team won all 3 games!

Be hard to be 18-4 in 5th when we scored 3 in first and 3 in 2nd. Yeah weird visitors won all games. 2 evenly matched teAms. 1st inning just killed us. Y'all hit and we didn't do ourselves any favors 2 dropped flies including first batter. Just to big a hill to climb.

Windthorst vs Archer City is always a good game. Both teams are in the playoffs and have a lot of work to do. For all the great plays, hits, etc. the facts remain that both teams had at least 3 errors (have to clean those up) and both gave up at least 14 runs. WORK!!

Would you consider the offense to be the strength of both teams. The score certainly indicates such. How hard do the pitchers throw for both of these teams? Without knowing a thing, my guess would be in the upper 40's.

IMO, Archer City starting pitcher throws low 50's and backup in upper 40's. Windthorst #1, #2, #3 all throw low 50's. Both teams threw #1's although AC changed to #2 at mid-game point. Neither team has an over-powering (55+ mph) pitcher, just hits their spots with movement.

Judging from what I saw, I do not believe any of the pitchers threw faster than high 40's. I believe both starters have been used extensively all year and both showed fatigue. Again just my opinion. Both teams bats were hot and too many errors made.

When 3-game playoff games begin, both coaches should be prepared to use all their pitchers or they may see big numbers posted against them again.

Aces - what's your opinion?

See what you saw. I don't believe we matched ya'll intensity to start, then as we battled believe that was reversed. hard to tell on pitching, believe Ellie hits 50's don't know how high, we have another freshman pitcher that throws 50's but hasn't been used at all this year except in mop up. Hilbers did a great job allowed only 4 in 4 innings 3 of those in the 3rd , attribute that mostly to nerves at first then settled in nicely.

Also, both teams have seen same pitcher 3 times, you get locked in on what's coming and familiarity takes over, thus longer at bats, more foul offs. I also believe pitchers looked fatigued, just neither had their best stuff and the defenses weren't helping out much.

Both teams need work on defense aka, we have to learn to cover the bunt better...imo, although ya'll laid down some dandies, that were impossible to defend.

honest opinion, both teams looked fatigued.

Agreed. Thing that worries me is our coach has gone with the same 9 players plus DP all season. Only played five subs in a couple of run-rule games but with no pressure. Need to know who can come through for you when you need that pinch hit, or bunt, new pitcher or defensive replacement and they haven't been given that chance yet. Hope it doesn't hurt us later.

On Friday, Lockney beat Follett 11-7 in game 1 but then Follett took game 2 by score of 8-7 so they play a winner take all tonight at Amarillo.

We play the winner in a site/date TBD.

Follett pulled the upset over Lockney 13-9 last night, so Windthorst plays Follett in a one-game elimination round on Thursday @6:00 PM in Vernon.

Have I ever stated how much I dislike one-game series? Not sure if we lost the flip but when you have a deep pitching staff you do not want a single elimination game in the playoffs. Anything could happen and Murphy's Law usually does not bounce my way.

Lots of factors come into play when scheduling playoff games. Ie Field availability, state testing, graduation at this time of year, many, many other factors. Follett is at the top of the panhandle - halfway point between the two schools is pretty much Altus, OK. Looks like we won the flip for location!!! It's 200 miles from Follett to Vernon and only 75 from Windthorst. It's 155 miles from Follett to Childress and 132 miles from Childress to Windthorst. Again what is the purpose of school to crown athletic champions or educate students. Lots of missed classes when you are travelling 2 1/2 hours to a game one way, then have to get up the next morning and go to class.

Yes indeed, lots of things going on the closer you get to May and everybody should be preparing for this eventuality. I had previewed the match-ups and figured if Follett won we would be playing in either Childress or Wellington (approx. half-way points). I heard we had an agreement already in place for Vernon if Follett won but Follett wanted a single game format. I would have taken the mid-way point (more travel) in place of the favorable location.

Trojanettes Crush Follett 11-1 in run-rule victory in 6th inning

VERNON — Windthorst rode a strong performance in the circle by Cy Schroeder to an 11-1 victory over Follett to win the Region I-A Area Championship.

Schroeder pitched a complete game and allowed only one run. Schroeder’s dominance was further evidenced by her 11 strikeouts. None of the Panther batters had an answer for Schroeder except Alyssa Mounsey , who had three of Follett’s six hits.

Offensively, Windthorst’s Big Blue Machine kept on rolling as a unit. It pounded out 14 hits from eight players and had seven players contribute 10 RBIs. Four players came through with triples.

Jenna Glawe was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Logan Pennartz had two RBIs.

CLASS A

Windthorst 11, Follett 1

Follett 001 000 — 1 6 1

Home 300 602 — 11 14 1

2B: (F) Mounsey; (W) Breann Schreiber, Glawe, Wolf. 3B: (W) Glawe, Pennartz, Latham, Emily Schroeder . HR: None.

Dang I thought normangee would do a little better. I know Shiner is always tough though. I wonder if Shiner vs Holland might would be played around brenham. If so I might go watch that.

AC Swept Sundown won game 2 11-0 w/ strong performance from freshman pitcher Elliot Hilbers(1 hitter). You will hear this name alot next few years. She's a lefty, not over powering but great composure, extremely smart, and knows how to work a batter. Great Change-up, love when it's on, she makes hitters look silly....LOL. Fun to watch

AC vs P-Town should be a good series.

Played once in pre-season w/AC winning a pitchers duel 2-1 or 3-2 don't remember.

Look for my Ladycats to advance although will be a test, we need to play sound defensively and should be okay.

12-9 indicates your team fought hard. Sorry to hear that it ended but good luck to the daughter in her future endeavor. I know you are very proud of her.

I would have picked Ganado to beat Thrall, so upset or not, I don't know. I have seen Ganado play several times and they are a quality team. Thrall does have a pretty good pitcher though.

Another classic Regional Semi-Final will once again feature Albany and Windthorst. Hoping this time it's Windthorst turn to advance. Need the bats to get hot once again. We're deep in pitching and probably played one of our better defensive games of the year vs Seymour. Will need more of both to take down Albany. Go Trojanettes!

I believe ya'll will sweep. I believe the P-Town/Haskell will be a tough series. P-town, wasn't impressive w/bats only 8 hits in 2 games, enough to beat us but many reasons behind that, that I won't talk about here.

Will not be surprised to see Haskell win that series. P-Town goes as their pitcher goes and saying that we had 16 hits in 2 games not an abundant amount but dang sure enough to score more than 2 runs in 2 games, 1 run per game ARRRGHHHHH. :-?

Won't say the better TEAM, got beat, cause that wouldn't be right, and P-Town did what they had to do to win and deserved it and was the better TEAM; however, the more talented team did get beat

I was surprised about Archer City only scoring 2 runs but not about the number of hits you had; AC can hit! Just one of those games I guess where things didn't quite fall your way. You have a lot returning and will continue to make playoff runs.

I believe we have a team that can beat Albany but also expect a hard fought battle. I also believe Haskell can beat Petrolia. They have two decent pitchers and a very well-coached team.

Weimar beats Port Aransas 6 to 0 to move on to the regional finals to take on the winner of the Shiner / Harper series. Weimar pitcher did a good job last night, looked very relaxed and comfortable. Weimar still needs more production offensively from hitters 6 thru 9.
