STAMFORD BULLDOG BASKETBALL - 13'-14' Work Hard, Get Rewarde

Postby DawgPoundBlue » Thu Dec 26, 2013 4:55 pm

Hoping for another great year of Stamford Basketball...Last year we got knocked out by that charter school...we were one game away from state tourney.

Top returners: James Washington, Bo Wimberly, and a jv team that was very good last year.

Believe an achieve. Go Dawgs.

Continuing a fine athletic tradition.

Nice win over DII #5 Graford

Holliday 56 Stamford 34
Eula (DII#15) 56 Stamford 48

Holliday should be ranked in 2A after beating 2A #7 Childress in the championship game - they whipped us to start our season by 60+!!!

I have seen Holliday when they whipped us good. Also have seen Burk who was beat by 9 points by 2A Brock. I would pay to watch Brock, Holliday and Stamford. Good athletes all over the court and bet the games would be close.

Brock came so close last year was at all the finals games. Last second lay up got'em beat still don't know what the coaching thought process was. After tying it, Brock set back w/White OaKs stud guard just dribbling milking clock for one shot, never pressured him, to either make him commit to do something and even if they scored at least gave Brock time to set up a last shot. But he dribbled and finally Brock came out w/10 secs left he blew by Brock defender through the lane for a lay up.

Not saying wrong just kind of left me scratching my head, like you left yourself no time at all. When White Oak got the ball there was plenty of time for possession for both teams.

I wasn't able to attend the Windthorst games last night so I was checking Twitter for score updates - there were none, but in constantly checking Twitter I was able to follow this game by Evan Ren's updates. Sounded like Albany was able to control the tempo of the game through the first 3 quarters as Albany lead 24-23 with 1:18 left in 3rd. His next update was 35-29 with 5:45 so that was a 12-5 burst over 3:30 minute span. Just like in football this past season, when it was crunch time Stamford found a way to get it done.

So much to brag about Stamford Basketball after last nights performances.
First off, shout out to the Stamford girls, who started district off 0-5...then rally to beat Anson (45-40), good Haskell squad (44-40), and a very tough Albany team (39-34)! Three in a row for the girls. Never underestimate STAMFORD athletes!

STAMFORD BOYS (#10 ranked) clinch district title tonight with 57-34 win over Albany tonight!

Stamford 62 Haskell 40
Stamford 57 Albany 34

DAWGS now 11-2, with two district games to go. KEEP IT DAWGS!

Not for sure how many points Washington has averaged but its got to be in the high 20's. And his DUNKS just keep on coming, very mpressive young man. Another thing that that impresses me is the fact that their are 2 offensive lineman on the team.

I'd say pretty close.
James is an exceptional athlete, along with rest of the team, including QB Bo Wimberly, RB Ty McLemore, and the lineman, Back up QB Gus West, and few WRS on the team from the state champion football team leading the way TO ANOTHER STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!! We are Stamford, tough! Nuff said.
Dawgs seem to be peaking at the right time!

Heck of a game going on in Cisco. Poolville lead Stamford 40-38 after 3, but Stamford started quarter with 9-2 run to go up 47-42 with 5:43 left in game. Pvlle responds with 11-3 run to go up 55-50 with 2:06 left

Congrats to the DAWGS, pretty good year considering they got a late start. Didn't Muenster beat Poolville twice during the season?

I was really pulling for Stamford in their game vs Poolville. Hope Muenster can end the Poolville run.

Good luck to Stamford in baseball this season.

Just remembering when Alvord played them. Some big ole kids that would've looked good in football uniforms. I mean big tall kids.

Priddy has always been good in basketball too. They have had some big German kids that would have made good football players, but the town won't allow it. Several years ago a football player got hurt or may have died playing football. I don't remember which, but that's the reason they don't play football over there.
