I know it's VB and football playoff time, but let's start some hoops talk among the 1A girls teams in the state...in our area Falls City,Mason, Port Aransas, Harper, Weimar and you can't rule out Snook or Thorndale. Chime in with your top teams

Lol...check the name of the forum SmashThat; it says "Other High School Sports - Texas Basketball" so lynx is ok.

Lynx, I know your girls are pretty successful in their sports programs. Who's the favorite in your district this year.

Windthorst is the favorite in girls for our district and we hope they can get to region if not past this year. Always a tough region though.

Snook has ruled the roost in our district the last few years. We should be pretty good this year with an addition of some of the freshmen coming in.

Weimar looks awfully good this year and will certainly be a force in region 4. Their 3 loses this year are to 5A Austin Aikens, #2 state ranked Navasota in 3A and #11 state ranked Stafford which is also 3A. All were close games as well. For a 1A team they have some depth as well.

I'd have to say windy, Seymour, AC in that order. Like my Ladycats but we aren't putting up enough PTs rt now. Had only 30 pts against jacksboro. that wont cut it. We are extremely quick but average size and one our good size bodies tore her other Acl. Poor kid. We are really young 4 Sophs and a jr start. Best when up tempo don't have what I wld call shooters that can bury you from outside, and turn it over way too much but that's youth. Live and die by it

aces, I agree with your prediction of our girls hoops in district. We have a couple of 6 foot post and plenty of quick guards who can also knock down the threes. Seymour is usally tough, especially the Slagle girl. I expect AC to be much improved. Sorry to hear about your post player's injury. Was it Knoblach?

Unless there is another Knoblach, it wasn't her as Morgan scored 7 to lead the Lady Cats in their loss against City View yesterday.

The Knoblach girl is my wife's cousin so naturally I was curious. Not sure who their other posts are. I know they have a very good post in Freshman Bailey Rice but I hope the young lady in question heals quickly and is able to get back in action soon. Best wishes to her.

Sorry to hear about Ms Green. Hope for a full recovery soon. Great job by the Ladycats! I was talking with the Electra HC after they beat us in a close game in Windthorst and he believes the district is wide open this year. Too many variables to hand the title to any team. Should be very competitive on boys and girls sides and fun to watch.

Snook won our district again. We played them close and almost beat them over there. They are good but not the team they were last year. The two losses to snook were the only losses we had in district. We lost our warm-up game to Normangee yesterday. We play Thorndale on Tuesday in college station in the first round.

Took off work today to head out to the Iola girls game against Harper. Gonna leave early and use the opportunity to hit up Cabellos in Buda! See how the game goes tonight but I know our girls hadn't made it past this round in basketball the nine years I've lived here.

Iola lost to Harper tonight 35-32. Harper is a good pressing team that plays tough defense.

Lady Eagles spanked us 59-25 in 2011 Area Round.

The might have been some divine intervention last night. There is currently a mission occuring at St Mary's in Windthorst. It started Sunday night and ends tonight. Before I went into church last night I checked twitter to see what the score was - 21-28 Goldthwaite at halftime. There was a pretty good turnout at the mission considering there were two playoff games occuring. Anyway when I checked twitter to see what happened in the game after I was pleasantly surprised to see we had come back to win. Last night's topic was on receonciliation so not sure how that played into helping!!!!

Due to a mix-up last night, the refs for the Windthorst Trojans vs Albany game did not show up on time and were 1 1/2 hours late. The benefit of this was the Windthorst Trojanettes won their game a few minutes before the Trojans game finally began. The fans and girls bus drove the one hour trip in a hurry to watch the boys game finish. Our boys may have been a bit tired at the end but you should have seen the "lift" their spirits received when the 25 Trojanettes walked into the gym and began cheering them on. I love small town sports and the love and support that comes with it!

That triple A academy is pretty tough. I watched them play in an early season. Tournament. Their only loss was to a 3a school by two points. Everybody else they played in the tournament they beat easily. Good luck to y'all I hope u can beat them!!!
