Shiner is a top 10 team...not sure of their record but they have played a very tough schedule and have beaten quality teams in non district. Refugio is the true #1 team right now because of their pitching depth....3 or 4 studs!

Yeah Shiner just beat #10 Weimar and beat #18 Flatonia. Still not in the top 25 lol. But keep us out of the rankings lol! We like it that way!

Windthorst lost to Seymour, the top four teams are shaping up to be a decent district. Archer Beat Petrolia. What are the records now for district?

Archer 4-1
Seymour 4-1
Petrolia 3-2

Archer and Seymour have yet to play. I answered my own question

We can't hit decent pitching!!! Think Seymour and Petrolia are the only teams that have pitching and defense that can play with us. Give us extra outs by making errors and walking batters we can put up some runs. Play good defense behind your pitching and we struggle. Have lost 8 games on the season in all but one of those scored 2 or less and the other game scored 3.

Windthorstfan how does Petrolia have the pitching? Seymour yes because of Barton, maybe yall just arent as good as you think? I know Archer has struggled at times they have more pitching than probably both schools you mentioned, but hey you know best. Haha

We play sound baseball for the most part. Have decent pitching, play good defense, but like always struggle to score runs against decent pitching. The team that won State could rake from top to bottom. All I know is scoreboard!!! Windthorst 1 Petrolia 0 only managed 4 hits in the game, Windthorst 12 Archer City 2 managed 12 hits - who knows maybe yall's ace wasn't available. Y'all aren't on Gamechanger like the other district teams....

Will be interesting to see what Seymour does with Barton with this week as they play Archer City tonight and Petrolia Friday. Do they throw him for 65 pitches and then bring someone else in to try and close it out? Do they start someone else and then bring him in to close?

Looks like this second half of district is going to get interesting. the trn has Petrolia in there little top 10 primer, but nothing for Seymour who beat Windthorst and Archer City, not sure about that.

Ratings, smatings!!! Don't mean a whole lot - games are determined on the diamond. In Russell's defense Seymour has had some weird results - Quanah 7-4, Olney 20-19, but at the end of the day a win is a win. Seymour and Windthorst both control their destiny win out and the district title is theirs. Archer City and Petrolia will need some help to come out on top of the district standings. Will be interesting to see what kind of pitching Seymour has left. Petrolia beat Barton in their first match-up, but Barton won't be eligible due to throwing 110+ on Tuesday. Can they win a wild one like they did against Olney? Then again out of the top 4 teams Petrolia's offense is probably the weakest. Can they scratch out enough runs to beat Seymour? That's the marque match-up tonight.

Petrolia walks off against Seymour 17-16 as they score 6 in the bottom of the 7th. Last 3 Petrolia batters were hit by pitch.

The district is definately the top four, now Olney good up end Seymour or Petrolia, but not likely, its getting kinda crazy for the 2nd 3rd and 4th spots. This week will tell alot.

The #1 spot isn't locked up yet - Lots of baseball still to be played.

Heard things got a little heated in the B7 of Petrolia & Seymour - couple of players ejected / coaches had to be separated.

The race for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th took a turn last night as Seymour dropped their game against Olney 15-12 giving up an 8 spot in the 6th blowing a 12-7 lead. Archer City, Petrolia, and Seymour now 8-3 on the season - Archer City is in control of their destiny and by winning out would finish 2nd as they still face Petrolia and Seymour. Petrolia has swept Seymour on the season, while Archer beat Petrolia but lost to Seymour in the first round.

Windthorst, currently at 10-1, has a 2 game lead on the three schools and needs a win against Seymour to clinch the district title although district title can be won by winning their 2 final games should they lose to Seymour (Olney and Quanah).

I didn't say DeLeon was weak - the region as a whole is weak. Last state champion was 2009, since 2010 the region has only won two games at the State Tournament. Highest ranked team in Region I by Texas High School Baseball is #14 Post. I know rankings don't win games. I don't know much about De Leon baseball. The game that makes me scratch my head is a 3-2 win over Olney who is not a playoff team.

We weren't supposed to be in the 3rd round of the football playoffs as we were 11 point underdogs to Bosqueville.
DeLeon beat the teams they were supposed to beat as they were not underdog in the playoffs until they faced Crawford according to Pigskin Prep.

Region 1 is weak. I'll admit that. I think it's region 4's to lose. The Olney game was us pitching our number 5 and missing 2 key players (game didn't matter and that's all it was) Olney did just beat Seymour too didn't they? They must not be too bad, looking at their schedule and results.

-------- Deleon did not beat the teams they were supposed to beat in football. We were coming off a 3-8 season and picked 4th in our own district. Deleon was considered underdogs in most of the games they playeduntil the end. Oh well that's last year and this is this year. I know we wont sneak up on anuone next year. Lol. Good luck to your team in both baseball and football, sir.

I love to research and GameChanger makes it easier. Doubt you threw you #5 pitcher, you throw your #5 pitcher against Mays and Winters, not against Miles and Goldthwaite like he pitched in the first round of district!!! Obviously pitching wasn't the problem in that game!!

Seymour has one pitcher when he is on he's tough to beat. IMO they overuse him which maybe why he has struggled against Olney Tuesday and then us yesterday

We did throw our 5 vs Olney, I have no reason to lie. Come on man. And the first time vs Miles and Goldthwaite we threw our number 2, second time around threw our number 1. And I'll agree offense lost us our 2 district loses. We are flying high now though.

Maybe your #5 came on in relief!!! Your #2 threw 6 innings of 3 hit ball while walking 1 allowing 1 run.

My idea of number 2 and yours may be different. I feel like our number two is a lefty who just came back from injury a few games ago. It doesn't matter. The Deleon team that played Olney early in the season would be 10 run rulled by this deleon team. We are healthy and clicking right along. Maybe we will meet up in the playoffs and we can talk ball face to face.

DeLeon's and Olney's Gamechanger both showed Yeager threw 6 innings!!! I believe that is who you are referring to as your #2? And if so your #1 is Whiteley. I just like messing with you!!!

Yeager is not a lefty so, I do not know how I can refer to him as our number 2. Someone as smart as you should be able to pick up on that. And on a side note, I like you messing with me cause it reminds me of when we beat y'all in football last year.

You are obviously all confused who your #1 and #2 and #5 are!!! To start you said your #5 threw against Olney, you also said your #2 started against Miles and Goldthwaite in the first match-ups. I would assume Whiteley is the lefty. Just to refresh your memory!!!

Difficult to have a warm-up game with pitch counts and the 1st round of the playoffs the week following the end of the season. Game wouldn't tell you anything with both teams probably throwing 5-6 maybe even 7 kids just to get a game in!!!

2nd game of the year - 1-4. We threw our #2 for 2 innings then threw some innings eaters probably our #5 and #6, granted I have no idea who truly our #3 and #4 are. Just based on my opinion of what I have seen and who I would trust with the ball come game #3 or late inning game situations in the playoffs but then again I have no say in the matter!!!

Early also beat Goldthwaite at that tournament 7-4 for whatever that is worth!!! And our #2 and one of the guys that pitched in the Early game teamed up to beat Goldthwaite 8-0 on Saturday while only allowing 2 hits so what do I know!!!

Just one of those games!!! We hit into three double plays and also had a guy caught stealing - obviously didn't get timely hitting and Early played clean defense and didn't give us extra outs (1 Batter ROE). That's baseball in a nut shell at our level.

District 9-2A
Windthorst 13-1
Petrolia 11-3
Archer City 9-4
Seymour 9-4

AC and Seymour face off this afternoon in the final game of the season for 3rd and 4th. Will be interesting to see what Seymour does with Barton. Their best chance (only chance imo) to win in the playoffs is a 1 game and hope Barton is on. If Barton throws more than 85 pitches would not be eligible to throw until Saturday. If they lose to AC fall into the dreaded 4th seed and face Muenster in the 1st round. AC defeated Lindsay in a tournament game earlier in the season - who knows whether their AC/Lindsay threw their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th....pitchers in the game. Lindsay had a rough tournament as 4 of their 6 losses came that weekend.
