What are good Jr High times?

Postby markdog » Mon Feb 25, 2013 9:00 pm

Ok, it's been several years since I had a kid in Jr high. My 7th grade boy is about to start his 1st track season, he will be a 100m, 200m, & 400m guy like his older brother was. For the life of me I can't remember what his brothers timeswere at this age, or what are good times? I don't even know what he is running in the 100 & 200 yet, he ran a 60 sec 400 in practice the other day, according to him. What kind of times can we expect to see at this age?

There is a freshman at Falls City that ran a 53 open quarter in 7th grade at the district track meet, then last year(his 8th grade) he ran a 2:11 800 meters. I know that is pretty good because we just had our varsity area meet last night and the winning 800 meter time was 2:18. The teams there were Kenedy, Falls City, Runge, Louise, Weimer, Ganado, Flatonia, Pettus, Shiner, Three Rivers and Yorktown. By the way, that freshman from Falls City didn't run in the 800 but did finish 3rd in the open 400. The two guys that were barely in front of him were a kid from Weimer that either won or went to state in the 400 last year(he finished 2nd, 1st race he's lost all year in the 400) and the Jones kid from Shiner(he finished 1st and he is FAST) And by the way, it was COLD!!!! Dang cold front, still thawing out today!
