Valley Ciew CC 2014

Postby Pigskin Swammy » Wed Sep 18, 2013 1:15 pm

Boys placed 3rd this past weekend in Arlington, they place 1st week before that at Southlake

I think the girls placed 3 rd this past weekend also....Boys should win the district, but the girls will have to fight to beat Lindsay girls...Coach Robin Hess has another good team

Eagles soar to first place finish Staff Report 10/14/2013 1:32 PM

With the district meet less than a week away, the Valley View and Lindsay cross country teams looked to be hitting their stride at the Birdville Flyin’ Hawk Invitational this weekend.
The VVHS boys team took first place in the Class 3A and under race while LHS’ Lauren Gibbs continued her strong season by winning the Class 3A and under girls division.
Valley View’s depth proved to be the key, with the Eagles placing five runners in the Top 20.
Micah Davidson led the way for the Eagles, winning the race with a time of 17:21. Hunter Barnes finished just seconds behind Davidson, claiming the runner up position with a time of 17:21.
Joe Don Pembroke finished next for Valley View, completing the race in 17:49 while Kollin Myers also ranked near the top.
Garrett Gonzalez rounded out the team’s Top 20 finishes, completing the run in 18:53.
In the girls race, Gibbs had no trouble earning another first place finish for LHS, beating out the competition with a time of 12:22. Valley View’s Kayley Calhoun was not far behind, taking third by finishing in 12:43.
The teams will resume play Oct. 21 with the stakes being raised, as VVHS and LHS will compete in the district race at Lindsay.
