TGCA Volleyball Poll 9/22/14

Postby Windthorstfan » Thu Sep 25, 2014 9:00 am

1. Iola 25-1
2. Schulenberg 25-8
3. Lindsay 25-3
4. Beckville 24-4
5. McMullen County 22-2
6. Sterling City 20-7
7. Windthorst 19-10
8. Avery 21-4
9. Evadale 18-4
10. Abbott 18-4
11. Gary 19-7
12. Milano 18-5
13. Thrall 22-6
14. Snook 16-6
15. Bronte 16-12
16. D'Hanis 15-11
17. Aspermont 18-8
18. Brackett 16-7
19. Forestburg 16-9
20. Flatonia 15-13
21. Frost 14-5
22. Poolville 15-10
23. Wortham 17-12
24. Fort Elliott 14-11
25. Valley Mills 15-12

3A
22. Crawford 19-14 Third ranked team from 13-2A (Abbott and Valley Mills the other 2)

I can't believe Archer City is not ranked, definitely a Top 25. Forestburg lost to Tioga this past week, Tioga's coach had success at Petrolia and Holliday and was a graduate of Windthorst.

Once they get Crawford into the right class (2A), they should be top team from 13-2A, since they have already defeated both Abbott and Valley Mills:

9/16/2014 Crawford d. Valley Mills 25-11, 25-18, 25-12
9/23/2014 Crawford d. #10 Abbott 25-7, 25-20, 25-15

Agreed, Archer City IMO is a top 20 team. Great to hear Mindy is having success. Quite a few girls who played under Diane Conrady are now successful coaches in the high school ranks.

It's been a while since I checked the rankings. I figured someone would have told him by now that Crawford is 2A!! I dropped him an email to tell him. Blows my mind though that in 2A he has Valley Mills ranked and in the 3A write-up he mentions that Crawford moved to 3-0 in district play having beaten Valley Mills.

The polls have Flatonia ranked ahead of 3 district foes who have beaten them...Flatonia is 0-4 in district. Weimar,Shiner and Ganado are all better than them

To be honest we really don't know, nor will we ever find out. All teams play 3 out of 5 in district so to say AC went 3 sets with Windthorst well they all do!!! I know you meant toe to toe, hit for hit, block for block, etc, etc....

Don't quote me on this but I think Tioga might be a fairly new volleyball program.

Not sure how they come up with these rankings but I know Weimar has beaten Flatonia twice this year in straight sets and actually took a game from Schulenburg who is very, very good. Oh well, all that really matters is come playoff time.

Agree with wildaggie...Flatonia has 4 or 5 district losses and 4 teams are ahead of them in district and the only ranked distrct team ahead of them is Schulenburg. Yes, rankings don't mean much, but you only will get mentioned if the coach sends in info.
