If you were 1-9 last year, set an attainable goal and organize yourself to meet it. If you were 11-3, 12-2, or better and have half your starters back, if your team isn't focused on state you are a poor coach. If you were 15-1 what other goal could there be?

Mason has a cadre, but I've never read even a comment from district 14 teams Junction, Harper, Bracettville, or Sabinal. Shiner certainly I don't know much about FC or Louise, but Shiner always has dawgs. Even last year - we had beat them up pretty good, up 15 with 2 something left. 2:02 later we are flipping a coin for overtime.

Good to see Junction and Harper from District 14 getting mentioned in Region IV. Junction has some talent back, but a new coach so they are an unknown. Harper has a very good quarterback, receivers, an exceptional running back, and lots of size; expecting them to be a full-on challenge this year.

Until someone beats the Bobcats, I'm with Abe. We have not moved the ball on Refugio at all for two years - is that personnel, or schemes? Hard to say. Both teams lost key players, but Refugio's key players were 3/4 year starters that are playing college ball now, while Mason's are going to college....

Mason has Goldy week 1, Iraan week 4, and Hawley week 5, with Johnson City week two, Comfort third week, and Ballinger sixth. Mason has 84 playing high school football, so, yeah, I'm sure the Bobcats have 96 in their workouts, 7-12. In towns with their tradition and competitiveness, you need a great reason to NOT play football.

The better trick is to co-op an alternative school with other districts, with the kids assigned to the alt school being in the membership of the district where the school is located. If you keep them in your membership no advantage, but if they transfer to membership in the other district that works...
